There are two conflict views of Jinnah role on Indian partition.

The first View
As per Ayesha Jalal 's book " the sole spokesman":- Jinnah wanted to use partition slogan as a tool for bargaining to get better deals for Muslim.
- Jinnah wanted loose federation & weak center which had the only defense, communication & foreign policy.
- Later Jinnah strategy on partition backfire because of the overplayed role of Jinnah.
- In the end, Congress accepted the partition proposal.
- Gandhi Ji also said that Jinnah only wanted power, he suggested Prime minister post to Jinnah but Congress did not accept.
The second View
As per Venkat Dhalipate's book "creating new medina":
- Jinnah always wanted the partition of India based on religion.
- He was willing to sacrifice three crores Muslim residing of Muslim minority provinces to librate six crores Muslim of Muslim majority provinces.
- He was carefully thought of new Medina making and wanted the support of the Muslim minority.
- Jinnah supported the cabinet plan on religious ground.
