Role of Indian Soldiers in the World War

More than ten lakh Indian soldiers of undivided India had joined the World War-I, nearly 1 lakh soldiers died to fight against the German Empire.  Indian soldiers joined with British force in hope of Britisher would liberate India as goodwill but this did not happen. Britisher treated Indian soldiers inferior and treatment from them was inhuman. Behavior from the British government was:
  • No moral support to Indian soldiers
  • No leaves were granted even for genuine reasons.
  • Animal-like treatment

Due to the above treatment to our soldiers, bad experience in WW-I, and no sign to leave India, India did not support in the World War -II.

What India gained from world war 1?

  • Soldiers got experience from abroad to defend our country
  • After India got independence, India supported the Non-Alignment Movement.
  • India did not take the side of either USSR and USA during the cold war
  • Working experience in World war 1 helped the Indian army against Pakistan's aggression.
