The following are the main features of DPSP:
- It is not justiciable or enforceable in nature
- DPSP provides social and economic justice to people by instructing the state to make a welfare scheme.
- As per B R Ambedkar, DPSP is the "instrument of instruction "
- DPSP is fundamental to the governance or to make the welfare state
The following features are added through the Constitutional amendment:
- 42nd CAA:
- In article 39, the healthy development of children, equal justice and free aid to poor.
- In article 43, the participation of workers in industry management.
- In article 48, safeguard of forest and wildlife.
- 44th CAA:
- Provision to minimize inequality in income, status, opportunities, and facilities( article 38)
- 86th CAA:
- To provide early childhood care and education (article 45)
- 97 nth CAA:
- Principle relation to Co-operative society ( article 43 B)
Informally, for better understanding, DPSP is categorized in the following groups:
- Socialistic Principle
- Some principles are laid down to provide social and economic justice, the socialistic principles are found in the following articles:
- Article, 38,39, 41, 42, 43, and article 47.
- Gandhian Principles
- Gandhian ideas( textile, village-level development) of economic and social justices are reflected in some articles, that is article 40, 43, 46, and article 48.
- Liberal Intellectual principles:
- In these categories, the principles are uniform civil code, it reflected in article 44, 45.48,49, 50, and article 51.
