There are two types of Parliamentary committee
Adhoc:
It is created for some specific purpose and it is temporary in nature.
Standing committee:
There are many standing committees, however, some important standing committees are listed below:
Public Account committee:
- Members should not be more than 22( Lok Sabha 15, Rajya Sabha: 7).
- Chairperson (generally from the opposition party) is appointed by the speaker of the Lok Sabha
- Tenure 1 year
- It examines:
- The annual report of the government
- CAG report in parliament
Estimate committee:
- It is the largest committee in the parliament having 30 members of Lok Sabha.
- The chairperson of the estimate committee is appointed by the speaker of the Lok Sabha
- Tenure 1 year
- It examines the estimate of the proposed budget expenditure of various schemes.
Committee on Public undertaking:
It examines the reports and accounts of public undertaking
Departmental committee:
There are 24 departmental committee
