Properties of Materials:
The following are the properties of materials:Appearance:
- Woods is different from iron and vice versa.
- Lustre: Lustre material is usually metal. For example, Iron, Copper, gold, etc
Hardness:
As strength wise, there are two types of materials:- Soft Materials:
- Materials that can be scratched or compressed easily are called soft materials. Examples, cotton, wool, etc
- Hard Materials:
- Materials that can not be scratched or compressed easily are called hard materials. Examples, Iron, Alumunium, etc
Soluble or insoluble?
- Some substances have completely disappeared in the water, called soluble in water. For example, salt, sugar, etc.
- Some substances are not soluble in water, called insoluble in water. For example, stone, iron, etc.
Transparency:
Based on the visibility or light reflection the following are the three types of materials:
- Transparent: Through able to see the object clearly without any confusion. The Materials that allow all light to pass through them are called Transparent materials. For example, glass, water, air, etc.
- Translucent: Through able to see the object but not clearly visible. The Materials that allow some light to pass through them are called Translucent materials. For example, oily patch paper.
- Opaque: Through not able to see the object. The Materials that not allow passing the light through them are called opaque materials. For example, Iron, Alumunium,
