Probity in governance ensures impartiality in their decision-making and avoids favoritism or discrimination. It ensures the needs of all sections of society.
However, the implementation of probity in governance can be challenging in practice, especially in contexts where corruption, nepotism, and abuse of power are rampant. Sticking solely to laws is sometimes not good for individuals and society. In this situation, holding probity in governance will be very difficult for public officials.
In conclusion, the philosophical basis of probity is grounded in the values and principles of democracy, justice, the rule of law, and ethical principles ( honesty, integrity, impartiality, and objectivity).
