Condensation UPSC | Climatology | UPPSC

 Condensation:

It is the process of conversion of water vapor to water.

Condensation takes place by the following condition:

  • The temperature of air decrease below the dew point with the same volume; as a result, water vapor present in the air gets converted to water.
  • The temperature of air and volume of air decrease
  • Extra moisture added to the air and make saturation of the air.
  • Generally, condensation happens due to rising of the air; temperature decrease and dew point of air decrease; as result moisture gets converted to water;

Types of Condensation:

  • Dew
  • Frost
  • Fog
  • Cloud

Dew:

  • Tiny drops of water form after condensation near the earth's surface are called due.

Frost:

  • Air is supercooled below the freezing point is called frost.

Fog:

  • Mass of tiny drops of water that forms after condensation nucleus near the earth's surface.

Cloud:

  • A cloud is a mass of tiny drops of water at higher altitudes.
