- Haematite

- Magnetite Iron ore:
- Finest Quality of iron ore in magnetite Iron ore, iron content up to 70 %.
Total Reserve: 20 billion tones as per 2004-05
Statewise Iron ore production share:
- Odisha-52 %'
- Chhattisgarh: 16 %
- Karnataka: 14 %
- Jharkhand: 11 %
Brazil is the highest producer of iron ore in the world.
Manganese:
- It is used in manufacturing steel, bleaching powder, insecticides, and paint.
- 10 kg of manganese needed for the manufacturing of one tone of steel.
Distribution:
- Madhya Pradesh: 27 %
- Maharastra: 25 %
- Odisha: 25 %
- Karnataka: 11 %
- Andhra Pradesh: 10 %
- Minor producers: Telangana, Goa, and Jharkhand
