Both manure and fertilizers are key for overall nutrients for healthy plants as they are a source of 13 out of 16 plant nutrients.
What is manure?
Manure is comprised of a large quantity of organic matter that provides nutrients to the soil in small quantities.
Manure is prepared by the decomposition of animal and plant waste.
Using manure also helps to reduce organic waste and reduce the excessive use of fertilizer.
The following are three types of manure:
- Compost:
- Organic waste decomposes in the pit is known as composting
- Vermicomposting;
- if the composition is done by using earthworms is called vermicomposting
- Green manure;
- Small Sunn hemp, guar like the tree are mulched by the plow and leave someday to decompose.
Manure help to enriches:
- Soil with nutrients
- Humus that increase water holding
- Help to retain Moisture
- Change Soil structure
Fertilizers:
- Fertilizers are inorganic nutrients that are commercially produced.
- Excess use or faulty irrigation practice leads to loss of soil fertility.
- When this fertilizer reaches water bodies; it creates water pollution.
- Proper does, times, observation needed for complete utilization of fertilizer.
- Continuous use of fertilizers can destroy the organic matter in the soil and kill the microorganism of the soil.
