Question:
What is the basic difference in the arguments related to the origin of the earth is given by Laplace and Kant.
Answer:
Kant and Laplace both contributed to shaping the "Nebular Hypothesis", the oldest hypothesis that explained the Origin of the planet and our solar system.
As per Emmanuel Kant( German Philosopher),
- The solar system starts forming from a large cloud of dispersible particles called Nebula.
- Gravitation pull between particles starts colliding and sticking and as a result of some particles becoming larger and later they formed stars, planets, etc.
- Not able to explain why the planet moving in the same direction
- Not able to explain the satellite formation.
Laplace Nebular Hypothesis:
Laplace( French Mathematician) in 1796, modified Kant Nebular Theory,As per Laplace:
- Sun Already formed, the young stage of the sun is called the primitive sun.
- These were large gases atmosphere rotation around the primitive sun at a very large distance.
- Sun starts cooling and contracting.
- The decrease in the size of the Sun leads to an increase in the Sun's rotational velocity.
- Some ring materials left around the atmosphere and started forming concentric rings.
- Eight concentric rings formed in our solar system.
- The planet was formed in each concentric ring.
- In the same way, there were concentric rings around the primitive planet, and satellites were formed from the concentric rings.
