Question.
Why is the surface of the earth uneven?
Answer:
As we know that our earth is made up of three-layer, the outermost layer is called the earth crust or the surface of the earth. Although Earth's crust is in solid form it is dynamic in nature.
There are two reasons for an uneven surface:
Variation in internal force( Endogenic force):
- Earth crust moves vertically and horizontally. This movement is caused by the internal forces operating within the earth's interior. Radioactive elements or other elements inside the earth are not equally distributed, and hence the intensity of internal force is not the same everywhere. This intensity difference leads to variation in the outermost crust uneven.
Variation in external force( Exogenic force):
- The Source of External forces is the sun and it is originated in the atmosphere. As we know that insolation is not the same in all latitudes; as a result temperature and pressure are not the same all over the earth surface; due to temperature and pressure difference, the intensity of different geomorphic agents such as water, winds, glacial, wave, temperature, etc are not same on the earth crust; as a result, it leads to variation in earth's surface.
