Rural development means enhancing the quality of life of people living in rural areas. As we know the main occupation of rural people is agriculture and rural people earn money from selling agricultural products and the marketing centre works as an interface between the rural and urban people.
the following are the roles of the market centre in promoting rural development:
- The market centre provides opportunities for rural people to sell their goods and services to urban areas. In this way they earn money.
- It enables rural people to buy agricultural input such as seeds, fertilizer, and other input materials from the market centre. In this way, they maximize productivity.
- The market centre provides the flow of goods and services from rural areas to urban areas and vice versa.
- It increases employment opportunities.
- The market centre also provides modern services such as banking, credit, investment, and Information and communication services to enable the flow of knowledge and money to rural areas.
