- It is the decision-making authority of the UNFCCC( United Nations Framework Convention on Climatic Change).
- The major role of UNFCC is to act against the threat of climate change.
- In 1992, UNFCCC was established in the earth summit, and originally, the secretariat was in Geneva. Later, in 1995, it was shifted to Bonn, Germany.

COP-26:

- Limit Global warming to 1.5 Centigrade.
- Net zero-emission by 2050.
- Emission needed to be drastically cut by at least 45 % from the 2010 level by 2030.
- India and China have not committed to the 2050 deadline.
