Discuss the contribution of "Air India" and "Indian" in the air transport of India.

Air transport is the fastest and most modern mode of transport. Being the fastest means, it covers long-distance travel in a very short time. Air transport is best suited for difficult terrains like hills, mountains, and deserts as compared to road and railways as it only requires the building of airports.
Following are the developments in India's air transport system;
The air transport system was started in India in 1911. Air transport started at a short distance of 10 km between Prayag Raj to Naini.
The real development of the air transport system started only after independence.
In 1947, air transport was provided by four major companies—Indian National Airways, Tata Sons Limited, Air Services of India, and Deccan Airways.
In 1951 - Four more companies joined the services, Bharat Airways, Himalayan Aviation Limited, Airways India, and Kalinga Airlines.
In 1953 - Air transport was nationalized and two corporations, Air India International and Indian Airlines were formed. Now, Air India International is known as "Air India" and Indian Airlines as 'Indian'.
Contribution of "Air India" and "Indian" to Air Transport of India:
Since 1953 "Air India" provides international air services for both passenger and cargo traffic. It connects all the continents of the world through its services. Apart from this, air transport in India is managed by "Air India".
Since 1953, "Indian" provides domestic air services for both passenger and cargo traffic.
In the year 2010, 520.21 lakh domestic passengers and about 23 lakh metric tonnes of freight were carried.
