The cold desert of India is located in the northern part of Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh. The cold desert of India lies between the Greater Himalayas and the Karakoram ranges. It is located in the northeastern part of the Kashmir Himalayas. The northernmost part of the Himachal Himalayas is a part of the cold desert.
The important ranges of the cold desert are the Karakoram ranges (northern), the Ladakh ranges (central), and the Zaskar ranges (southern).
Nanga Parbat is the highest peak of the cold desert which is in the Zaskar range.
