As we know, in human geography, we study the relationship and interaction between humans and the physical environment. Human settlements (villages, cities, metro cities, etc) are the result of the interaction between humans and the physical environment. Human settlements reflect the level of interaction between humans and the physical environment.
Human settlements like villages have lower levels of technological development and people are closer to nature. Whereas in urban settlements people are not much closer to nature.
The study of settlements in human geography is called settlement geography.
Therefore the study of human settlements is an integral part of human geography.
