India shares international land borders with seven countries and water borders with two countries.

There are seven countries – Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, and Bangladesh that share land borders with India.

Sri Lanka and the Maldives are the two countries that share water borders with India.
Pakistan and Afghanistan are to the west and northwest of India
To the north of India are China, Nepal, and Bhutan.
Myanmar and Bangladesh are to the east of India
To the south of India are Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
There are 8-degree channels between India and Maldives.
The Palk Strait separates India and Sri Lanka.

India has international boundaries problems with Pakistan, China, Sri Lanka, and Nepal which are as follows:

Border issues between India and Pakistan:

There are mainly three disputes between India and Pakistan - Kashmir, Siachen Glacier, and Sir Creek dispute.

For Kashmir, three wars have also been fought between India and Pakistan.

Both India and Pakistan lay claim to the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Both countries also claim Siachen Glacier and Sir Creek.

India-China Border Issues:

China is our neighbor and shares a land border with India to the north and the border between India and China is not really fully demarcated.

The India-China border can be divided into three parts:

The main border disputes were in the western and eastern regions. China claims most of the territory of Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh.

Aksai-Chin has been occupied by China since 1962, which is part of India.

India Sri Lanka Border Issues:

There is a fisheries issue between India and Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka alleges that Indian fishermen use Sri Lanka's maritime boundary which affects marine life and damages the ocean ecosystem.

Fishing issues began after the maritime boundary was finalized in the 1970s.

India ceded Katchatheevu Island (285 acres of uninhabited island) to Sri Lanka in 1976. Since then the problem of fishermen started.

India and Nepal border issues:

There are two disputes regarding the border between India and Nepal.

Kalapani region (Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand)

Susta region (part of Champaran district of Bihar)
