Mangrove forests are forests that are found in brackish or semi-saline waters. Mangrove forests are found in deltaic regions, wetland areas, salt marshes, tidal creeks, and estuaries.
Mangrove forests give shelter to a variety of birds and animals. The mangrove forests of the Sundarbans are spread over an area of 6,740 sq km, which accounts for 7% of the world's mangrove forests.
