Road transport is a land transport mode and is widely used for the movement of people and goods in India. India has the second largest road transport network in the world after the United States.
Following are the three merits of road transport:
The construction and operation cost of road transport is much lower than that of railways and airlines, And it is the most economical means of transport for a small number of people and a relatively small quantity of goods.
It is best suited for door-to-door services. No other mode of transport other than road transport [as of now] is suitable for door-to-door services.
