Answer.

GAIL (India) Limited is a central public sector undertaking under the ministry of petroleum and Natural gas of India. GAIL( India) Limited was set up in 1984 as PSU to transport, process, and market natural gas.


In India, pipelines are used to connect the oilfields and gas filed to refineries and markets. In India, there are generally five regional grids network of pipelines. "One Nation One Grid" is a scheme for the integration of all the regional pipelines network of India and GAIL( India ) is working to integrate the regional pipeline grids under the "One National One Grid" scheme.


The following are cross-country natural gas pipelines laid by GAIL (India) under “One Nation One Grid”:

As of Sep-2022, there are 13 (thirteen) regional gas pipelines that are constructed and operated by GAIL( India) Limited. [Source-gaionline].

Jagdishpur-Haldia-Bokaro-Dhamra (JHBDPL)-1773 km

Dabhol-Bengaluru Pipeline Network (DBPL)-1148 km

Dahej-Uran-Dabhol Pipeline Network-942 km

Dadri-Bawana-Nangal Pipeline Network-910 km

KG Basin Pipeline Network -889 km

Kochi-Koottanad-Bengaluru-Mangaluru Pipeline Network (KKBMPL)-642 km

Gujarat Regional Pipeline Network -614 km

Chhainsa-Jhajjar-Hissar Pipeline Network (CJPL)-305 km

Cauvery Basin-272 km

Dedicated Networks -225 km

Mumbai Regional Pipeline Network -125 km

Agartala Network -65 km

The first 1700 km long Hazira-VijaipurJagdishpur (HVJ) cross-country gas pipeline. It connects Mumbai High and Gujarat Bassein gas fields with various fertilizer, power, and industrial complexes in western and northern India. 

Later HVJ was integrated with other regional networks now it is known as Integrated HVJ which is about 6707 km in length.

The total length of the gas network that is already completed is 14617 km.
