As per the Indian metrological department, there are four distinct seasons:
- the Cold weather season
- the hot weather season
- the southwest monsoon season
- the retreating monsoon season
Both hot weather and southwest monsoon season comes under the summer season. April to August is the summer season in India.
In the summer season, there is high atmospheric pressure in Ocean and there is low atmospheric pressure in mainland of India. That is why winds blow from the ocean toward the land in the summer season.
