Answer.
Development of agriculture means the efforts made towards increasing agricultural production to meet the increasing demand of the growing population.
Agriculture can be developed in many ways. Some of the major methods are increasing the area of cropped areas, increasing the number of crops per year, improving irrigation facilities, making fertilizers available, using high-yielding varieties of seeds, and mechanization of agriculture.
Therefore, the ultimate objective of agricultural development is to increase food security.
The government helps the farmers in the development of agriculture in the following ways:
- The government makes quality seeds and fertilizers affordable and accessible to all farmers.
- Increases irrigation facilities for intensive farming.
- Provides agricultural loans to farmers for purchasing agricultural inputs.
- Providing money under crop insurance in case of damage.
- Promotion of agricultural products, such as providing minimum support prices to farmers.
- Strengthens agriculture infrastructure like cold storage, Krishi-mandi, transport, communication, seed industry, fertilizer industry, etc.
- Promotes research and development for agricultural activities.
