The Chotanagpur Plateau is the eastern extension of the Central Highlands. A large part of Jharkhand and smaller parts of West Bengal, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha lie in the Chotanagpur Plateau. Ranchi, Bokaro, and Dhanbad are the major cities of the Chotanagpur Plateau.
The Malwa Plateau is the western extension of the Central Highlands. The Malwa plateau is situated between the Aravalli range and the Vindhya range. The Vindhya ranges form the southern boundary of the Malwa plateau while the Aravalli range forms the northwestern boundary. The region of south-eastern Rajasthan and western Madhya Pradesh lies in the Malwa Plateau.
