Answer.
At present in India, more than fifty percent of rural household uses firewood for cooking and heating. So, Firewood is the major source of energy for rural areas. However, firewood has many disadvantages and some of which are mentioned below:
- Collecting firewood is time-consuming.
- It pollutes much.
- It promotes deforestation.
So, suggested sources of energy for rural areas would be LPG, Bio-gas, Solar energy, and CNG.
LPG ( Liquefied Petroleum Gas) is one type of natural gas that is a clean source of energy and it should be used as a cooking fuel in rural households.
Biogas is produced from organic waste like dead plants and animals, animal dung, and kitchen waste. Biogas is the most sustainable fuel for rural households as it is excellent for cooking, and lighting, and also produced organic manure for farming.
Solar energy is also the most suitable energy source in rural areas and remote areas as installation of solar energy is an easy task. Solar energy is a non-exhaustible and non-polluting source of energy.
CNG ( Compressed Natural Gas) is popular eco-friendly automobile fuel and it is less polluting than petrol and diesel. CNG should be used in vehicles in rural areas.
