Answer.

A biosphere reserve is a device for the protection of plants and animals. A biosphere reserve is an area that serves as a natural habitat for the conservation of flora and fauna and is protected from human exploitation and illegal activities such as poaching. Some freedoms have been granted to the local people to preserve their cultural identity.

India has eighteen biosphere reserves and ten of the eighteen are included in the World Network of Biosphere Reserves.

Two examples of biosphere reserves are Nilgiri and Panna Biosphere Reserves. The Nilgiri Biosphere Reserve is the oldest biosphere reserve in India, was notified in 1986, and is located in the border region of Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu.

Panna Biosphere Reserve is located in Madhya Pradesh, it is the latest Biosphere Reserve which was notified as Biosphere Reserve in 2011.
