Answer.
Flood plains are a type of depositional landform formed by rivers[ or running water]. When the river overflows, it floods the surrounding areas and also deposits a layer of fine soil in these areas which is like a flat plain called a floodplain.
The flood plains are very fertile for intensive irrigation.
Most of the plains of Assam are floodplains formed by the Brahmaputra River and its tributaries.
