What do you understand by "Voice of conscience"? How does it help in performing the duty of civil servants? (UPPSC 2022)

Answer.

Voice of conscience" is a spiritual practice through which a person goes deep into his inner self and searches for the purpose of living life. With the 'voice of conscience', a person connects and listens to his inner voice which helps him to decide what is right and what is wrong.

Every person's Voice of conscience" does not suggest the same way, it is based on that person's spiritual values, moral values, and beliefs. The person who is moral is more likely that the 'voice of conscience' that will guide them to moral things.

The 'voice of conscience' helps a lot in the discharge of the duties of public servants. It helps in taking decisions in complex situations and suggests alternatives based on one's own values.

The 'voice of conscience' helps civil servants to perform their duty in several ways -

helps in making ethical decisions and resolving dilemmas; Civil servants have a duty to uphold the law and serve the best interests of the public. But many times he comes across such a situation that creates a dilemma in his work, then the 'voice of conscience' helps him to overcome the dilemma. It helps them to understand the importance of work and take the right decisions for the general public.

In being sensitive to duty; There are times when situations arise for civil servants to engage in corrupt practices, but the 'voice of conscience' helps them to be honest and take ethical decisions.

The Voice of conscience" is our own voice which tells us what to do in a complicated situation, it guides us to listen to our voice based on our values. It helps civil servants to perform their duty and build self-confidence, which helps them to do good work for the public.
