a) Deep Sea

b) Deciduous rainforest

c) Coral Reefs

d) Desert

Answer. c) Coral Reefs

Species diversity is defined as the number of different species present in an ecosystem ( place). The coral reef ecosystem has the highest species diversity, it has even more than Tropical rain forest.

Coral Reefs:

Coral reefs are aquatic ecosystems that are found in mainly sedimentary-free and shallow tropical ocean water.

It accounts for about 1 % of the ocean surface. However, about 25 % of the world's marine species are found in Coral reefs.

Great Barrier Reef is the largest coral ecosystem in the world. It is located on the eastern side of Australia, the coast of Queensland.

Coral reefs are mainly found in four locations:

  • Andaman and Nicobar
  • Lakshadweep
  • Gulf of Mannar
  • Gulf of Kutchch

Biomass productivity:

Biomass per unit area per year is known as Biomass productivity. The following is the list of ecosystems in decreasing order of productivity:

  • Marshes or Swamps ( Highest Productivity)
  • Tropical Rainforest
  • Coral Reef
  • Estuaries
  • Temperate forests
  • Tundra
  • Ocean
  • Desert ( Lowest productivity)
