1946 ( November ): The Constituent Assembly was formed based on the Cabinet Mission Plan ( 1946). The initial members were 389, and later 299 members after partition. Roughly one seat of the Constituent Assembly was allotted to every 10 lakh population.

1946 ( 11 December): Introduction of Objective Resolution.
1947 ( 22 January): The constituent assembly adopted the objective resolution.

1949 ( May ): India’s membership in the Commonwealth.
1949 ( 26 November ): Adoption of Constitution by Constituent Assembly. 26 November was celebrated as Constitution Day. It took 2 years, 11 months, and 17 days to make the Indian Constitution.
1950 ( 24 January): Final Session of Constituent Assembly. Adoption of the National Flag and National Anthem. Election of Dr. Rajendra Prasad as the first President of India.
1950 ( 26 January): Indian Constitution enforced. 26 January 1930, the first Purna Swaraj ( Complete independence ) was celebrated.
