As per the State Pollution Authority of Uttar Pradesh, Gomati is the most polluted river in Uttar Pradesh. It is not even suitable for bathing. It is destroying the river's biodiversity. Therefore, the Gomati River of Uttar Pradesh has been declared a " Biological disaster" due to environmental pollution.


About Gomati River:

Gomati River is a left-bank tributary of the Ganga River. It joins the Ganga River in Ghazipur. 

Origin of Gomati River is at Fullhar Jheel, in Pilbhit.

Gomati River passes through Pilibhit, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Sitapur, Lucknow, Barabanki, Sultanpur, Jaunpur, and Ghazipur districts of Uttar Pradesh.


About Sai River:

Sai River is also known as Adi Ganga, it is a tributary of the Gomati River.


Tamsa River:

Tamsa River is also known as the Toan River. 

It is a tributary of the Ganga River.

Tamsa ( Toan) River rises from Tamakund of Kaimur Range.

Tamsa River flows from Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

Aashram of Bharadwaj was located in the Bank Tamsa River.


About Ganga River:

The Ganga River is the longest in India. The length of the Ganga River is about 2525 km.

It is known as the Padma River in Bangladesh.

In 1986, the Ganga Action Plan was started.

In 2008, the Ganga River was declared the national river.

In 2014, the Namami Gange Project was started.

Ganga River passes through five states of India namely Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. However, there are 10 states and one Union territory comes in the Ganga basin, they are Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Bihar, and West Bengal.


Tributaries of Ganga River:

Ram Ganga joins Ganga at Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh. Ram Ganga is the first tributary of Ganga.

Yamuna River joins the Ganga at Prayagraj. Chambal, Betwa ( Vindhya), and Ken River (Kaimur Hills) are the three major Yamuna River tributaries.

Gomati River ( origin: Pilbhit) joins the Ganga in Gazipur. Lucknow is located on the bank of the Gomati River. 

Ghaghara river joins Ganga at Chhapara, Bihar.

Son River joins Ganga in Patna.

Gandak River Joins Ganga at Sonpur, Bihar.

Kosi River joins the Ganga at Kursela.
