Climate Action approach | Global approach Vs India's approach | UPSC MAINS General Studies

A global approach to climate change:

They mainly focus on three approaches:

  • Renewable energy adoption
  • Energy efficiency Machine/Devices
  • Cutting Methane Emission

The above-said approach is not feasible for developing countries like India. It is so for the following reasons.

  • Inadequate funding
  • Lack of cutting-edge technology
  • Can not reduce methane emission
  • lack of storage and battery facilities
  • Ignoring per capita emission
  • Western countries have nucleated families

India's approach to climate change:

Mission Life: Behavioural changes to individuals to combat climate change.

Carbon Sink:

1.97 billion tonnes of CO2 between 2005 and 2019

2.5 to 3 billion tonnes Co2 by 2023

Emission Intensity reduction:

Target to reduce 45 % by 2030 from 2005 level
