 Role of Uttar Pradesh in the Propagation of Buddhism:

Sarnath:

Sarnath is located in Varanasi Uttar Pradesh. 

It is the place where Buddha gave his first sermon after attaining enlightenment. 

This event, known as the "Turning of the Wheel of Dharma" (Dharmachakra Pravartan), marks the beginning of Buddha's teachings.

Sarnath became a prominent center for Buddhist monasticism and learning, attracting monks and scholars from various parts of India and beyond.


Sravasti:

Sravasti was the capital of Kosala's kingdom, where the Gautama Budha spent about 20 years of his teaching. 


Kushinagar:

Kushinagar is the place where Gautam Buddha passed away. This event is known as Nirvana. 


Mathura's Art and Culture:

Mathura was a major center of Buddhist activity during the early centuries of Buddhism's development.

It played a major role in the development of Buddhist art, especially during the Kushan period (1st to 3rd centuries CE). 

Buddhist sculptures from Mathura often portray Buddha in various forms, Bodhisattvas, and other deities associated with Buddhism.
